Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1Album Poster
A new composer sets foot in composing the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Soundtrack and that person is French film composer Alexandre Deplat. Since this is the first part of the final Harry Potter series, the music will be completely different. The “Hedwig’s Theme” is more used now than previous movies with director David Yates saying that it would be present on “anything that felt like we were being nostalgic or in a way reflective of the past”. They added new themes such as the trio’s journey in looking for the Hocruxes, Ron running away and Dobby’s death. This soundtrack had overall positive reception and even gave it five out of five. And since this is the first part of the end, it’s really good to get this soundtrack.

Nicholas Hooper comes back in the Half-Blood Prince soundtrack together with Alastair King and depicts about the discovery of Harry on the Half-Blood Prince and his love relationship with Ginny. It also has themes that reflect Dumbledore and Harry’s journey in finding the Hocruxes. Most importantly, the death of Dumbledore track is also in this album that left an impact on the audience. Since John Williams wasn’t still available for the Order of the Phoenix soundtrack due to scheduling conflicts, Nicholas Hooper composed the film’s score while still retaining the “Hedwig’s Theme”. Two of the new themes told is about Dolores Umbridge and the invasion of Voldemort in Harry’s mind. The soundtrack got three out of five from critics as it has mixed reactions for there was no continuity in the tracks but still had good ones. For them, it still needed some improvement.

Again, we don’t see John Williams here but rather we see Patrick Doyle as he composed the music for the Goblet of Fire. Of course, “Hedwig’s Theme” was still there and some themes were added to depict what the movie was all about. The three main themes added were for the TriWizard Tournament, for Lord Voldemort, and one for Harry’s crush with Cho Chang. There is also a minor theme that depicted the death of Cedric in the hands of Voldermort. In the Billboard 200, it came at number 80 and has received positive reviews from critics calling it one of the best soundtracks for 2005.

John Williams is back again in composing the original score of the Prisoner of Azkaban soundtrack and has introduced some new tracks that depicts the story. This thirds sequel of the Harry Potter movie series comes alive with the unique music that Williams created. Some of the additional tracks are: the Time Turner, Sirius Black’s hunt for Harry, and “Double Trouble”. It was nominated for more than two awards and charted on number 68 in the Billboard 200. Despite the movie with the lowest-grossing sales in the box-office, the soundtrack truly tells about the Harry’s journey involving Sirius Black.

The first movie and soundtrack in the Harry Potter movie series, the Philosopher’s Stone is about a boy named Harry Potter discovering he is a wizard and goes to a magical school called Hogwarts. Composed and conducted by Academy-award winner John Williams, the soundtrack introduces many character-themed tracks that will be used in future soundtracks as well. This is also the soundtrack where “Hedwig’s Theme” was introduced and was later on used in all sequels.
